Dear all,
I am writing you today with regards to my decision to leave Sojitz and pursue my dream of becoming a politician.
When I first joined Sojitz, I was assigned to the HR & GA Dept.'s Global HR Team. My non-Japanese coworkers taught me day by day about the importance of language, culture, and communication. I also learned the fundamentals of working at a company during my time there, and I had the unforgettable experience of being sent to the Philippines for two months, so soon after joining the company.
Later, I joined the Japan-focused HR team, handling new employee orientation and training for all levels of staff. I had the opportunity to meet many younger employees, and I came to understand the difficulty and importance of employee development.
Listening to my request, the company sent me to a business department after that. I was transferred me to the Osaka Business Dept.
Although I knew nothing about petrochemicals at that time, I believe that I was somehow able to grow into being a petrochemicals trader thanks to the advice and instruction I received from my suppliers and the management of their owner companies, both within and outside Japan.
At the same time, I helped manage one of Sojitz's holdings, giving me the kind of invaluable experience one could only gain at a general trading company like Sojitz. I have nothing but appreciation for this company.
Going forward, I will give my utmost towards solving the social issues faced by Japan today--issues which I came face-to-face with not only during my time at Sojitz, but in seeing my own mother singlehandedly raise both me and my disabled brother.
I will be working in Ukyo-ku, Kyoto now, so don't hesitate to contact me next time you visit.
